FCD Programs and Services

Research has identified numerous factors shown to be effective in reducing levels of substance use and abuse and maintaining a healthy school climate. FCD's consulting services and teaching programs are built upon effective prevention strategies that:

  • Change social norms
  • Engage the whole community
  • Get parents involved
  • Address known risk factors and the reasons kids turn to drugs
  • Present accurate, up-to-date information
  • Enlist student participation
  • Support and encourage non-use
  • Identify the problem early
  • Create clear, consistent rules and consequences
  • Provide a means by which students who voluntarily seek help for themselves or others can do so without incurring disciplinary penalties.
